You may experience an increased number of bounces from yahoo.com email
addresses. We recently discovered that
hard bounces from Yahoo.com were
not being reported in in the Email System report section because of
changes Yahoo had made to their automated bounce response message. For example, if an
email blast was sent to a non-existing yahoo account, the bounce would
not register in Email System.
When an email is sent to another mailserver, it returns a message to
the sending mailserver that notifies us of its status as recieved or
bounced. Our mailserver is set to only perceive a standard group of
bounce messages. Because Yahoo changed their standard bounce message,
Email System did not recognize the error and thus did not report any
bounces.
We have since corrected this and Email System will now acknowledge
Yahoo's new bounce message and bounces from Yahoo will be reported
correctly! Because of this, you may see many bounces from Yahoo that
you otherwise may have not noticed or thought were delivered in past
email blasts.
